The challenging investment year of 2015 successfully reached its goal: The yield on Veritas’ investments stood at 5.8 per cent.

According to preliminary figures, Veritas had a successful overall return on investments of 5.8 per cent in 2015.

“As expected, equities had a better yield than fixed investments,” states Niina Bergring, Chief Investment Officer.

“However, toward the end of the year, there was an increase in the volatility within liquid high-risk asset classes. The importance of the diversification was emphasised, and this emphasis will likely continue to increase.”

The real estate market picked up during 2015.

“The real estate market in Finland revived and met with a flurry of transactions. Our highly successful long-term yield in real estate investments continued to remain strong.”

Insecure outlook

In the future, the market expectations will be characterised by insecurity and increasingly difficult economic constraints as the global economic cycle is maturing.

“China’s economic situation continues to concern us, as unsettling news from that area of world has been reported for quite some time already. We have been cautious when it comes to China, and that has worked in our favour.”

“In 2016, we will continue to pursue a steady yield with a moderate risk profile.”

According to preliminary information, the solvency capital in proportion to technical provisions was approximately 28 per cent. The solvency capital is 2.2 times the solvency limit.
